Counseling Services in Fort Lauderdale, FL

Counseling For New Moms & Pregnant Moms:

I work with women experiencing challenges across the entire reproductive life story including infertility, miscarriage, pregnancy, depression, and anxiety as well as typical adjustment to a new baby and transitioning to parenthood.  I am truly passionate about my work with new and expectant mothers.

As an expecting or new mom, I personally know that you may be too tired and maybe overwhelmed with your pregnancy or your new baby to think about yourself and your mental health.  You're not sure if how you are feeling is normal, but you know that you just don’t feel like yourself.

It is important for you to know that this is quite common and that you are not alone.  I want you to get to feeling like yourself as quickly as possible. We will work together as a team to promote healing and recovery by focusing on existing strengths and resilience while developing new skills. My goal is to help you create the “HAPPIEST” you.

Counseling For Teens & Their Families:

Let’s face it, being a teenager is hard!  I help teens navigate whatever their adolescent issues may be whether this is self-esteem, anxiety, depression, substance use, being bullied, academic performance, goal setting, or stress management.  My objective is to help teens gain the knowledge and tools to help them reach their fullest potential in all life areas and find solutions to life’s ups and downs of adolescence.

I work together with parents and teens, as a collaborative unit, to help create a solid foundation for change and growth.  The end goal is for the teen to be able to confidently navigate their teenage years.

Counseling For Women:

I truly feel pride in my work with women. I enjoy helping women reach their fullest potential by overcoming issues or struggles that may be challenging in their life. Let’s face it being a woman can be exhausting. There’s a pressure to do it all and to do it well. Women face more challenges, unrealistic expectations, and more responsibilities than ever.

Over the past decade, I have helped women with anxiety, depression, interpersonal relationship issues, self-esteem, anger management, self-empowerment, and other concerns such as career choices, diet culture, body image problems, and self-identity. Treatment goals are often centered around improving emotional well-being, creating and maintaining interpersonal boundaries, alleviating anxious and/or depressive symptoms, and developing emotional regulation skills.

My goal is to empower you to be brave, courageous, and believe in yourself and be proud of the life you are creating and living. I want to help you become the woman you want to be, not the woman society wants you to be. Together we will collaborate as a team to break you free from your negative patterns and create the HAPPIEST you. Yes, you absolutely deserve to be happy!

My Story

Since I can remember, I have always been that one friend that family members and friends would turn to for advice or support.  I always feel my happiest and fulfilled when others create the BEST version of themselves and THRIVE.

This passion generated into my profession.  I truly enjoy helping people sort out their life issues or problems, so to speak, and determine solutions on resolving these issues. I enjoy feeling the human connection with others and feel that I have a special set of skills to help others.

My Background

I graduated with my Masters degree in Social Work from Florida State University in 2005. Then, I started working for an agency, Twin Oaks Community Services, as a Mental Health Counselor/ School Social Worker.  I implemented therapeutic (family, group, and individual) services in the community and school settings with children between the ages of 4-18. I also worked collaboratively with school psychologist, teachers, and other school personnel.

In 2008, I started working at the Covenant House, a shelter for at-risk youth from the ages 12-21, including mothers and their children, as a Family Therapist.  Some of my responsibilities included providing short-term family counseling services to eligible youth and families within the Family Services Project leading towards family reunification, implementing crisis intervention techniques, and managing the Family Services Project grant.

In 2010, Provide 4 came to life with a goal of providing therapeutic services to the general population with an array of presenting concerns or problems.  I became certified as Dialectical Behavior Therapist (DBT) and this is my primary modality used in therapy.

After becoming a mother of two children and realizing the lack of perinatal mental health resources for families, I decided to switch gears and take a certification course in Perinatal Mental Health through Postpartum Support International and 2020 Mom.

My passion continues to be teens and mamas. My professional affiliations include National Association of Social Workers, The American Counseling Association, the American Psychotherapy Association, the National Association of Professional Women, and Postpartum Support International.

Just For Fun

I am an avid fitness lover.  I love crossfit and entering into local competitions.  I’m also game for any Spartan race. But my absolute favorite thing to do when I'm not working is spending time with my family.

Why Work with Me?

I believe “feeling a connection” with a therapist is one of the most important factors when determining the right therapist.  You can expect confidential consultation and counseling, a respectful and non-judgmental attitude, candid guidance and support, and active listening, encouragement, and motivation from me.

The thing I love about being a therapist is observing the change and growth of an individual. Planting a seed and watching it grow; as some people say.  This makes me passionate about providing mental health services to the best of my ability and helping people grow to their fullest potential.

I leave you with this, a quote by Alexander Graham Bell:

When one door of happiness closes, another opens, but often we look so long at that we do not see the one that has been opened for us.”
