Maybe you’ve tried to “move on,” but something inside still feels stuck, confused, or hurting. My goal is to help you gain empowerment, confidence and autonomy to reach your full potential.

I firmly believe in the sense of uniqueness in every client that walks into my practice. Therefore, I offer a warm, collaborative and integrative approach in our sessions to best fit their needs.

I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR), an evidenced based modality that has shown effectiveness to help teens and adults heal from trauma or any adversities  such as issues of abuse, bullying, attachment wounds, abandonment and many other complicated life issues.

I am a bilingual counselor providing counseling in Spanish and English for teens, adults and families across the state of Florida via our secure telehealth platform.

My goal is to help you gain empowerment, confidence, and autonomy to reach your full potential. My approach is warm collaborative, and culturally-sensitive.  We will work together to develop meaningful goals and find solutions that can help you navigate life at ease.

My Counseling Services

I provide counseling in Spanish and English for people across the lifespan. I work with children, teens, adults, and families experiencing a variety of struggles. I'm also deeply passionate about helping individuals that identify in the LGBTQIA+ and Latinx community.

Here are a few of my therapy services:

Counseling for Tweens & Teens (9 - 19 years old):

Counseling for tweens and teens with me offers a safe, understanding space where young people can express themselves openly and develop the emotional tools they need to navigate a rapidly changing world. Adolescence can be overwhelming - filled with big feelings, shifting friendships, academic pressures, identity exploration, and increasing responsibilities.

Many young clients come to therapy feeling anxious, stressed, misunderstood, or unsure of how to manage everything they’re experiencing. My approach is calm, compassionate, and collaborative; I meet them exactly where they are, helping them feel heard, supported, and empowered as they build confidence and emotional resilience.

Together, we explore challenges such as anxiety, stress, depression, low self-esteem, social pressures, family conflict, relationship concerns, and the effects of early attachment wounds or trauma. I use developmentally appropriate strategies that help teens understand their emotions, strengthen communication skills, and learn healthy coping tools.

Sessions often include a mix of emotional education, mindfulness, self-expression, and practical skill-building - always tailored to their unique personality and needs. My goal is to help tweens and teens feel grounded, capable, and more connected to themselves as they move through this important stage of life with clarity, confidence, and support.

Counseling for Young Adults (Age 18+):

Working with young adults, I offer a supportive and collaborative space where you can explore the challenges that come with finding your footing in life - whether it's anxiety, stress, depression, low self-esteem, relationship patterns, or the lasting impact of early trauma and generational attachment wounds.

Together, we explore what’s beneath the overwhelm, the self-doubt, and the cycles you may feel stuck in, while building practical tools to support your emotional well-being. My approach is warm, grounded, and supportive; I meet you exactly where you are, helping you deepen your self-understanding, strengthen your sense of self, build healthier connections, and move toward a life that feels more aligned, confident, and peaceful.

I believe that healing happens through a combination of insight, compassion, and intentional action. In our work, we go beyond symptom management and gently uncover the roots of your experiences... the beliefs shaped by childhood, the emotional habits that kept you safe, and the patterns passed down through generations.

As you connect with these deeper layers, you gain the clarity and inner steadiness needed to make empowered choices about your relationships, boundaries, and future. My role is to offer steady guidance, a calming presence, and a safe therapeutic environment where you can explore your inner world with confidence, and grow into the healthiest, most authentic version of yourself.

Counseling for Adults:

Counseling for adults with me offers a calm, supportive space to pause, reflect, and reconnect with yourself amid the demands and pressures of everyday life. Whether you’re navigating chronic stress, relationship challenges, low self-esteem, or finding yourself at a crossroads in your personal or professional life, our work together focuses on understanding both your present struggles and the experiences that shaped them. Adults often come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of their next step. I help you slow down, make sense of your emotions, strengthen stress-management skills, and gain clarity as you move through anxiety, depression, life transitions, and the desire for meaningful self-growth and life exploration.

As we explore your current experiences, we also gently uncover the deeper layers that influence how you show up in your life including past trauma, PTSD symptoms, unresolved childhood wounds, and generational patterns that may still impact your relationships, confidence, and sense of purpose.

With a balanced blend of insight, compassion, and practical guidance, you’ll learn to create healthier boundaries, build emotional resilience, deepen your connection to yourself, and move toward relationships and goals that feel genuinely aligned. My role is to offer a steady, grounding presence as you heal, grow, and step into a life that feels more peaceful, empowered, and authentically your own.

EMDR Therapy for Anxiety, Trauma, PTSD, Depression and Other Stress Related Issues:

EMDR Therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a highly effective, research-supported approach that helps your mind and body heal from overwhelming experiences, trauma, and deeply rooted emotional patterns. Many clients choose EMDR when traditional talk therapy hasn’t fully addressed the intensity of their anxiety, lingering traumatic memories, PTSD symptoms, depression, or chronic stress. EMDR allows the brain to naturally process experiences that once felt “stuck” reducing emotional reactivity, strengthening resilience, and helping you feel more grounded and in control.

In our work together, I guide you through EMDR in a way that feels safe, regulated, and deeply supportive. The process follows eight phases, each designed to honor your pace and your nervous system.

Clients often describe EMDR as transformational - not because it erases the past, but because it changes the way the past lives inside of you. Whether you’re healing trauma, managing anxiety, moving through depression, or experiencing stress you’ve carried for years, EMDR offers a path toward clarity, emotional freedom, and deeper inner peace. I walk with you every step of the way, creating a calm and steady environment for meaningful, lasting healing.

My Story:
Becoming a Therapist for Teens & Adults
Lorena Arrarte Therapy for Teens and Adults in Florida - EMDR Therapy.jpg

My journey into counseling didn’t start in a classroom, it started at home. Growing up in Peru, I watched my grandmother care for our family and community with unconditional love and strength. She had this quiet way of noticing what people needed, even when they didn’t say it out loud. Watching her, I realized how powerful it is to feel seen and supported, and that curiosity eventually led me to become a counselor myself.

Moving to the United States was a big shift for me. Being far from family and friends, adjusting to a new culture, and finding my place in a new environment wasn’t easy. I struggled with fear, self-doubt, and moments of feeling stuck. Seeking therapy was one of the best decisions I ever made. It helped me process those challenges, reconnect with my strengths, and feel free in ways I hadn’t before. That experience gave me a firsthand understanding of how transformative counseling can be, and I knew I wanted to offer that same kind of support to others.

I followed that curiosity into a bachelor’s degree in psychology at Florida Atlantic University (Go OWLS!), where I discovered a love for research and got experience in a Language Development Lab that studies parent-child interactions in both English and Spanish-speaking families. From there, I earned a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, gaining hands-on experience supporting students with disabilities and individuals navigating life’s transitions.

After graduate school, I worked as a primary therapist for over five years, helping people facing substance use challenges - an experience that deepened my understanding of resilience, healing, and the power of having a safe space to grow.

Today, my work is all about creating that safe, supportive space for my clients. Whether I’m guiding someone through trauma recovery, anxiety, depression, inner-child healing, or life transitions, my goal is always the same: to help people reconnect with themselves, understand their patterns, and step into a life that feels authentic, empowered, and aligned with who they truly are.

My Background in Counseling & Psychology
Lorena Arrarte EMDR Therapy in Florida.jpg

I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Florida with over 8 years of experience helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life’s challenges. I earned both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Florida Atlantic University, and since then, I’ve continued to expand my training and expertise in trauma-informed care, inner child healing, and advocacy.

I am trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Gottman Couples Therapy Level I and II, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR). These approaches allow me to support clients dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and life transitions — always in a way that is personalized, safe, and empowering.

I have a particular passion for supporting members of the LGBTQ+ and Latinx communities, and I’ve had the privilege of providing professional workshops, advocating for mental health rights, and creating spaces where clients feel seen, affirmed, and understood. My work is informed by cultural awareness and a commitment to social justice, ensuring therapy is inclusive and culturally responsive.

Beyond my clinical practice, I actively participate in academic research in multicultural counseling, and I have presented on topics tailored to the Latinx population at the 2021 American Counseling Association Conference. I’ve also been featured in the online magazine Bold Journey in May 2024 and was a TV guest speaker on Telemundo 51, sharing insights about mental health and emotional wellness with a broader audience.

I approach my work with warmth, empathy, and collaboration, helping clients explore their experiences, heal from past wounds, and move toward lives that feel aligned, authentic, and fulfilling. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where every client can feel empowered to grow, find clarity, and embrace their full potential.

Just For Fun

Outside of my practice, you can find me spending time with family and friends. I am very passionate for arts and music. Fun fact, I always loved theater and used to audition for local plays back home in Peru. That’s why as an adult, I enjoy being part of local off-Broadway musicals and sing karaoke when possible.

I also find traveling and exploring new places fascinating. My biggest bucket list is to take a selfie at each of the 7 new Wonders of the World.

Why Work With Me in Therapy

I provide therapy and EMDR therapy for children, teens and adults experiencing a wide variety of struggles not limited to anxiety, depression, trauma-related disorders, self-esteem, and major life transitions. I utilize an individualized approach to fit your needs. I am well versed in play therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
